Department of Home Affairs warns of visa processing backlog

The Department of Home Affairs is warning it could take 20 months to
process visitor visas because of a backlog in applications.

A handful of Australians have said they are facing big difficulties attempting to get their loved ones into the country after applying for visitor visas on or around the time the international borders reopened in late February.

Some say they are waiting on a response from the Department of Home Affairs on the status of the application.

In an email from the Department of Home Affairs office, it said that all applications are being worked through “as quickly as possible”.
